Impact from the Heart

At the Brunel Foundation, our commitment is centered around three sustainability pillars – Cultivating a Greener Future, Building New Habits, and Inspiring Future Professionals. These areas define our focus and shape the way we work towards a sustainable future.

While our foundation’s primary mission lies within these three pillars, we also believe in the power of inspiration and example. When colleagues across regions feel moved to support other meaningful causes – whether local initiatives, community efforts, or personal passions – we see that as a powerful extension of our impact. We aim to be more than a driving force within our three areas. We strive to act as a catalyst for broader change—encouraging action, personal passions, enthusiasm, and social involvement wherever it begins.

We embrace initiatives from Brunellers to give something back in a way — or to a cause — that is close to their hearts. We call this Impact from the Heart: actions that go beyond the foundation's pillars. Together with the activities organized by the Foundation, these initiatives give shape to the social responsibility of Brunel as an organization — and giving back of Brunellers in particular.

The powerful ripple effect

If possible, we look for opportunities to create a two-layer impact: when an initiative within our foundation’s focus also allows us to support other meaningful causes. An example is our Mepal fundraiser, which is part of our Building New Habits pillar. By selling sustainable products, we encourage our people to make conscious choices in their daily lives—while part of the proceeds is donated to charities beyond our core focus areas.

Even when an initiative is not something the Brunel Foundation directly leads, we believe in the powerful ripple effect of doing good. Every positive action can set an example for others to do the same — inspiring them to give back, multiplying impact, and showing how small contributions together can create meaningful change.

While we value and encourage these efforts, the Brunel Foundation is not responsible for activities outside our three focus areas. We see them as separate, meaningful ways to make a difference — and we are proud support these initiatives by adding them to the global impact map, highlighting the positive impact they create.

Building New Habits

The Brunel Foundation creates awareness among Brunellers, clients and many others about making sustainable choices in their professional and private lives. Making these choices is all about building new habits: What can we change on a daily basis which will impact the environment on a global scale? In the shape of the ‘Building New Habits’ campaign, we aim to inspire our colleagues and others to take action to reduce their personal carbon and plastic footprint, one habit at a time.

To this end, we also introduce sustainable gifts with a clear message. These gifts – such as Correctbook (an erasable notebook), KeepCup, our reusable canvas bag, a beeswax wrap and a reusable water bottle – inspire people to take action to reduce their own environmental footprint, as well as motivating others to do the same.
